What Is Hospice Care
Hospice and Palliative Care is a comprehensive philosophy of care usually administered by home health care agencies in a patient’s home or in other designated facilities. At Parent Care, we partner with key hospice and palliative care companies that put together a team of the most compassionate and empathetic staff to perform home health care services to our most vulnerable patients. The team of caregivers consists of nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers to provide a well-rounded approach to maintaining the patient’s quality of life and dignity. Our team of caring staff joins our partners to provide physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological support to every hospice patient and their loved ones.
Hospice care primarily focuses on treating and easing symptoms rather than treating the disease itself. Some therapies such as physical, occupational, and nutritional therapy are necessary and can be provided on an as-needed basis to improve quality of life or help with pain control. In some cases, medical supplies and equipment may be needed. Parent Care can help coordinate obtaining the necessary items for your care.
Who Qualifies for Hospice Care?
You May Qualify If:
- You are a patient who has a terminal illness
- Your medical prognosis is deemed to be six months or less
- You may continue to qualify for services beyond six months if your doctor and healthcare team agrees that the program is the best option for your ongoing care.
